There are 10 villages that call Thompson, CT home. These villages are East Thompson, Fabyan, Grosvenordale, North Grosvenordale, Mechanicsville, Quaddick, Quinebaug, Thompson Hill, West Thompson and Wilsonville. Each of the villages bring their own identity to make Thompson, CT the town that it is. Thompson, CT encompasses one of the largest areas in northeastern CT.

Historic Thompson Hill, in the center of town, has many homes dating back to late 1700’s-early 1800’s. There is a beautiful blend of Greek Revival and Federal Gothic homes located in the town center. Thompson, CT has a large variety of homes ranging from the historic early American homes, to mill houses from the Industrial Revolution, to new and modern architecture. There is a wide variety of culture and sense of the different eras of the past still prevalent in Thompson and the villages of Thompson. The Common of Thompson, CT was once used as a militia training ground from the time of the French and Indian War. The historic Thompson Hill and Common area is still mostly intact.

Thompson, CT also houses a golf course and an International Speedway. The Thompson International Speedway was the first paved asphalt track in the United States. Thompson is also the home to Quaddick Lake and State Park, which offers boating, swimming and recreation. The West Thompson Dam also serves as a recreation area.
